Over Two Hundred (200) fresh nurses posted to the National Catholic Health Service by the Ministry of Health have taken part in a national orientation ceremony organized in Accra.
The orientation exposed the nurses to the systems and functions of the National Catholic Health Service. They were introduced to the Church’s medical ethics and other administrative processes.
The Director of the National Catholic Health Service (NCHS), George A. Adjei Esq, welcomed them into the league of catholic health professionals and expressed the hope that the new nurses will discharge their duties professionally and informed by the love of Christ for the poor and marginalized.
Senior Health Services Coordinator, Mr. Lawrence Adjare of the NCHS handled issues that bothered on personnel and welfare of health professionals within the NCHS.
A Deputy Coordinator for Community and Institutional Care at the NCHS, and a professional nurse, Ms. Roberta Asiedu, admonished the newly posted nurses to uphold the integrity of the nursing profession by discharging their duties as expected of qualified nurses. She cited instances of media reports on nurses and their poor attitudes and using mobile phones and other social media whilst at post and advised them to desist from such unprofessional conducts.
The nurses have been posted to the 39 Hospitals, 82 Clinics and 10 Training Institutions of the NCHS across the country.
